The Silence of the Lambs, 1991 - ★★★★½

What a performance from Anthony Hopkins, genuinely terrifying. Probably a bit criminal that it took me this long to see this film

    ...

    Taxi Driver, 1976 - ★★★★

What a rollercoaster. Some great soundtracking and the shots are superb. A wild, wandering journey around the mind of an unwell guy

    ...

    The Banshees of Inisherin, 2022 - ★★★★½

So good. Bleak and funny. Great acting. The “takes two to tango” back and forth had me laughing my head off

    ...

    Amsterdam, 2022 - ★★½

Not great, not bad. Cast is insane but the story is maybe a bit too convoluted for me. I do like when movies do a side-by-side with the real events in the credits though

    ...

    Don't Worry Darling, 2022 - ★★½

I think this is a great concept that’s been badly delivered

    ...

    Napoleon Dynamite, 2004 - ★★★★

    ✊🏻 yesssss

    ...

    In Bruges, 2008 - ★★★★½

    Colin Farrell really hates Bruges

    ...

    Jackie Brown, 1997 - ★★★½

Quentin goes easy on the violence but keeps the feet in this one. Great double cross thing going on

    ...

    See How They Run, 2022 - ★★★★

It’s a whodunnit. You see one, you’ve seen ‘em all. This one’s particularly good though

    ...

    Jaws, 1975 - ★★★★★

Saw this in IMAX for a special. It’s just iconic. Animatronics are better than CGI. That classic soundtrack. About ten shots of those oxygen tanks so we don’t forget they’re on the boat.. I love every moment of this film.

    ...

    Flightplan, 2005 - ★★★

I don’t think Sean Bean says “bastard” in this film, which would’ve definitely bought it another star. All round an enjoyable film, even if you could see what was coming next for near enough the whole thing.

    ...

    Heat, 1995 - ★★★★½

Spent the whole film thinking it looked familiar. Then “GREAT ASS” and it came flooding back. What a film!

    ...

    Flee, 2021

I watched this movie in its native languages, with French subtitles. Difficult to understand that, but the film could still be understood. A great story that’s heart wrenching at times. Worth a watch for sure

    ...

    The Talented Mr. Ripley, 1999 - ★★★★½

This movie had great pace. Perhaps just highlighted because I’d watched Moulin Rouge the night before.

Hell of a cast, all at their best. Loved the escalation throughout.

    ...

    Moulin Rouge!, 2001 - ★★★½

Take your eyes off this for 30 seconds and you’ll miss about 25 important plot points. It really shifts!

    ...

    Face/Off, 1997 - ★★★

I want to take his face 🤏 … 🫴 off

    ...

    Bodies Bodies Bodies, 2022 - ★★★★

Unexpectedly one of the funniest films of the year. Haven’t heard a whole cinema laugh like that in a long time. Side note: everything A24 touches right now turns to gold

    ...

    Kill Bill: Vol. 1, 2003 - ★★★★

If you lose a limb suddenly blood sprays out like a fire hydrant for at least 10 seconds

    ...

    Nope, 2022 - ★★★★½

Think we could have another contender for film of the year on this one. I guess when we see something spectacular we all react differently, and pretty much every character did that in this film.

Am also waiting for my first monkey related nightmare

    ...

    Bullet Train, 2022 - ★★★

A fun film that’s very different to most of what I’ve seen released this year. A really quite impressive bag of cameos in here.

You could argue that this was Snakes on a Train

    ...

    Brian and Charles, 2022 - ★★★★

It’s so nice to watch a film that’s just a nice story. Brian invents an artificially intelligent robot called Charles. Charles is a child-like robot that loves cabbage, Honolulu and really wants to sit in the front. He’s also adorable.

    Feels like …

    ...

    Elvis, 2022 - ★★★

I swear Tom Hanks is doing the same accent here as he did in The Terminal.

I think the film spent a bit longer trying to get the audience to realise the “caught in a trap” thing than really showing us more about Elvis’ childhood and early career. …

    ...

    The Bob's Burgers Movie, 2022 - ★★★★½

This film was an absolute treat. Packed full of all the little intricacies that make the TV show great. Puns everywhere, Gene on fine form. Lost half a star for the animation occasionally being a bit jarring

    ...

The Unbearable Weight of Massive Talent, 2022 - ★★★½

Well now I’ve got to watch Paddington 2

    ...

    One Hour Photo, 2002 - ★★★

Starting at the end of this movie was a bad idea in my opinion. We could’ve been left with more suspense throughout the whole thing if we didn’t know where it was leading.

That said, RW is outstanding in this film and it displays the range he had …
