I just bagged tickets to see Queens of the Stone Age in Manchester in November. Incredibly excited now. Been trying to get my hands on these for weeks! 🎵

🍿 Movie Log: Killers of the Flower Moon, 2023 - ★★★★½

Lily Gladstone is unbelievable in this film. Leo is incredible in this film. Everyone is! You see the phrase ‘instant classic’ thrown around a lot but this one really deserves it.

Wild beer tried the other day. The Grapefruit and Pineapple ones are delicious, but this was a weird one on me! 🍺

Going to have a crack at altering my theme here to be a grid. Tried that before with a few things and it always turns out to be a giant PITA. Here goes nothing!

    Memento, 2000 - ★★★★

Cool concept. Well made, didn’t need to keep notes like some Nolan movies

    ...
    Mean Streets, 1973 - ★★★★

The soundtrack of this film SLAPS

    ...
    The Creator, 2023 - ★★★

Original sci-fi is great, I’m here for that. This is, however, just 9/11 with robots

    ...
    BlackBerry, 2023 - ★★★½

Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton are great in this. I’ll be pitching movie night to my work next week. Seems that good shit happens while that’s still around

    ...
    Dead Poets Society, 1989 - ★★★★

We’re all just food for worms

Took a trip to an outdoor cinema in Greece a couple of weeks ago. Gutted it’s not something that’s particularly feasible at home! Popcorn and beer were cheap too 🍿

bird.makeup is an invaluable resource for migrating away from the birdsite. Can get the accounts I don’t want to leave behind right into the micro.blog feed. Winner

I’m back again! Missed having a blog. Determined to make this work this time. Does anyone have any tips for using micro.blog as their online home?

    Past Lives, 2023 - ★★★★★

This film is just beautiful. One of those movies that makes you see everything differently when you leave the cinema.

    ...
    Oppenheimer, 2023 - ★★★★

Hard to describe this film. It is visually incredible and the cast is insane. Not sure where it leaves me on Oppenheimer as a person.

    ...
    Hot Fuzz, 2007 - ★★★★★

Everyone and his mum’s packing round here

    ...
    Beau Is Afraid, 2023 - ★★★½

    What the fuck

    ...
    Little Miss Sunshine, 2006 - ★★★★

I really thought the acting in this was phenomenal. Reminded me of the Always Sunny pageant episode, which I’m guessing took a tiny bit of inspiration from this perhaps

    ...
    Missing, 2023 - ★★★½

This film had me gesturing violently at the screen a few times. Gripping and the unique way of telling the story was fun too.

    ...
    Layer Cake, 2004 - ★★★

    Dumbledore said a swear word

    ...
    Renfield, 2023 - ★★★★

A self-aware movie that’s hilarious from the start to end. The CGI blood budget must’ve been huge

    ...
    TÁR, 2022 - ★★★

Artistically this film is spot on. It looks great, sounds great, and the acting from Cate Blanchett is crazy good. Still, felt a bit long for me. Cheers for front-loading the credits though because I was a couple of minutes late arriving

    ...
    Another Round, 2020 - ★★★★

I had a quick check at how much a breathalyser would cost at the end of this film. Not sure I took the right message

    Ones to watch

All the films I wanna watch

    ...
    The Menu, 2022 - ★★★★

Get someone who looks at you like chef looks at those burgers cooking

Had the cinema to myself last week. This Odeon in Manchester has the AMC colours still, which I think makes it a bit unique. It’s also very tired but weirdly that adds a degree of charm to the place. Long live Great Northern Odeon 🍿
