Travels in Guatemala 🇬🇹

The next destination on our journey was Guatemala. This is by a long shot the most beautiful place I’ve ever been. Sitting and watching volcanoes spit smoke whilst having breakfast is a very novel experience. With a lot of volcanoes comes a lot of earthquakes, so there’s plenty of ruins to see like this former church in Antigua:

Antigua also came with some of the most mind blowing sunsets you’ll ever see!

We went for a hike up one of the volcanoes, Pacaya, and discovered quite how active these things are. We cooked marshmallows over the sheer heat of the ground and saw the extent of the lava flow.

After that we travelled over to Lake Atitlan and stayed with a really nice guy who’d migrated from Germany. The views of the lake plus how remote it was - all the towns on the lake can only be accessed by boat - made it really incredible.

Those towns around the lake were super vibrant and really fun, each with it’s own style.

A quick dart to the airport and now it’s off to Mexico!

I should add I’ve disgraced myself and fallen behind Emily in the Monopoly Deal world championships. I will do better.
