Really enjoyable film. I loved the Michael Cera scene. Now to complete the trilogy of Running Man and read the book

A swirling, abstract film. Beautifully shot throughout and some great work by Jennifer Lawrence and RPatz.

Genuinely thought theyβd cast Benicio Del Toro as old Leonardo Di Caprio for a moment. What a movie. Probably film of the year

Plane film #6: Lost my mind by this point. Loved the meta Julia Roberts thing and the Bruce cameo.
Movie Log πΏ: The Assessment, 2024 - β β β β

Plane Watch #3: Nice dramatic Sci-Fi. Thought it was well acted all round and the premise is right up my street.
Movie Log πΏ: Collateral, 2004 - β β β β β

Man this film was good. What did it not have?
Movie Log πΏ: Get Hard, 2015 - β β Β½

Your classic Ferrell/McKay comedy. Not as good as the peaks of these movies but still drew some laughs
Movie Log πΏ: The Long Walk, 2025 - β β β β Β½

Pure bleakness, outstanding depth. The bluntness to the violence was excellent. Great film
Movie Log πΏ: The Running Man, 1987 - β β β

Truly a mental film. A nonstop hit parade of post-killing one liners.
Movie Log πΏ: Caught Stealing, 2025 - β β β β

Darren made a funny one!
Movie Log πΏ: The Roses, 2025 - β β β β

Hilarious! Completely unexpected, I barely stopped laughing throughout.
Movie Log πΏ: Weapons, 2025 - β β β β

Gripping and creepy in all the right measures.
Movie Log πΏ: Materialists, 2025 - β β β

Itβs no Past Lives but itβs still a very well made film.
Movie Log πΏ: Yes Man, 2008 - β β β

A fun little movie thatβs heavy on the twee but still heartwarming enough. Soundtrack is pretty good and I wish there were albumsβ worth of Munchausen By Proxy music I could listen to
Movie Log πΏ: Mission: Impossible III, 2006 - β β β Β½

This is a real return to form! Full of Abram-isms, itβs like watching Fringe but with more action. Excellent stuff.
Movie Log πΏ: Mission: Impossible, 1996 - β β β Β½

I loveΒ that the vault would have all the most sophisticated sensors in the world but stops short of having a camera for the guard outside to watch. Overall it was very fun!
Movie Log πΏ: 13 Going on 30, 2004 - β β β Β½

Honestly a really enjoyable 90 minute movie
Movie Log πΏ: Friendship, 2024 - β β β β β

Pure absurdist hilarity. Any film that makes me cry with laughter gets five stars.
Movie Log πΏ: Predator 2, 1990 - β β β

Quite a long way better than I anticipated. Budget mustβve been blown to bits on the spaceship
Movie Log πΏ: Bring Her Back, 2025 - β β β β β

Well thatβs one way to explore grief I suppose..
Movie Log πΏ: The Shrouds, 2024 - β β Β½

If Iβd have known more about why the movie was made going in, it wouldβve made so much more sense. I thought it was madly dry with some atrocious dialogue. Still, fun and original.
Movie Log πΏ: Hot Milk, 2025 - β β β

Some really nice cinematography here. Good old bit of bleakness, nobody gets to be happy.
Movie Log πΏ: 28 Years Later, 2025 - β β β β Β½

Even without an ending that hilarious, this is a truly outstanding film. The entire cast acts the socks off it. The way itβs shot is really engaging and frantic. That ending, though, is something else
Movie Log πΏ: Men in Black, 1997 - β β β β β

Blockbusters just donβt get better than this. Unbelievable practical effects (the alienβs face opening in the morgue?!) and impeccable acting (Edgar). Iβd watch it every day if I could
Movie Log πΏ: Fingernails, 2023 - β β β

Felt a little half-baked in the concepts but I liked the story.
Movie Log πΏ: M3GAN, 2022 - β β Β½

A bit paint-by-numbers but a good bit of fun
Movie Log πΏ: The Ballad of Wallis Island, 2025 - β β β β Β½

Just a lovely story with relentless comic relief. Was an excellent watch.
Movie Log πΏ: 28 Days Later, 2002 - β β β β Β½

Top stuff. Really well shot with the camcorders. Loved it
Movie Log πΏ: The Secret Life of Walter Mitty, 2013 - β β Β½

Pleasant. A little brand-heavy in places. There is no way thereβs a Papa Johnβs in Iceland. Certainly tried very hard to be inspirational but I think maybe it falls a little flat. The Benjamin Button bit is outstanding though.
Movie Log πΏ: The Phoenician Scheme, 2025 - β β β Β½

Made me laugh a few times with the catchphrases and some absurdity. Maybe a little convoluted for me, though. As ever with Wesβ films, set design is immaculate
Movie Log πΏ: Midsommar, 2019 - β β β β Β½

Creepy throughout, found it be very gripping despite its runtime. Florence canβt do wrong, sheβs brilliant in this.
Movie Log πΏ: Fly Me to the Moon, 2024 - β β Β½

Some pretty expensive looking shots of rockets and a couple of laughs. A good film
Movie Log πΏ: Final Destination Bloodlines, 2025 - β β β β Β½

Just relentless silly deaths. Cheeks hurt from laughing when I left the cinema. The opening scene was immaculate. I wouldβve liked the whole film in that setting but great fun regardless.
Movie Log πΏ: The Surfer, 2024 - β β β

This movie had me wondering if I was losing my mind. Properly surreal and strange. Iβm loving how much Nick Cage throws himself at roles like this
Movie Log πΏ: Sinners, 2025 - β β β β Β½

What wasnβt this film?
Movie Log πΏ: Rebecca, 1940 - β β β

Mrs Danvers is gonna haunt me
Movie Log πΏ: Christine, 1983 - β β β β

Canβt believe Iβd not watched this until now. Everything comes together here to make a story about an evil car make sense. Some unbelievable practical effects work throughout, had me gobsmacked. Loved it!
Movie Log πΏ: Minority Report, 2002 - β β β β

This is some good sci-fi. Full of all the touches of βthe futureβ that seemed wild at release (watches with screensΒ in them?!) as well as showing me the cars in I, Robot were ripped from this film. I want to call out the sound design too, because it β¦
Movie Log πΏ: Almost Famous, 2000 - β β β β β

I was picked up and taken for a ride watching this movie. Immaculate. I am yet to see Frances McDormand in a role I am not blown away by, so so good.
Movie Log πΏ: Novocaine, 2025 - β β β

Laughed a lot. This is a proper popcorn movie
Movie Log πΏ: Restless, 2024 - β β β β

Hilarious whilst balancing tension. Unique in its storytelling and I enjoyed the lot. Some comically bad punching but also a banging old Citroen ZX
Movie Log πΏ: Take Out, 2004 - β β β β

A really bleak tale. A lot of story told through silence. Can see how this led into future Sean Baker movies
Movie Log πΏ: Last Breath, 2025 - β β β Β½

My heart rate went over 100bpm watching this. Youβll know the ending thatβs coming the whole time but it takes you on a rollercoaster to get there.
Movie Log πΏ: Mickey 17, 2025 - β β β β

So much funnier than I was anticipating. RPat screaming at himself was hilarious. Ruffalo and Collette were great every time they were on screen. Shoutout to the set design too, really well done.
Movie Log πΏ: The Last Showgirl, 2024 - β β β β

PamAn and Dave Bautista are immense in this. A tale of people forced to change by the relentlessness of Las Vegas. Has similar themes to The Substance. A great watch
Movie Log πΏ: The Monkey, 2025 - β β β

Steers awfully close to Scary Movie levels of absurdity at points. Good fun to watch something so unserious!
Movie Log πΏ: Anora, 2024 - β β β β β

How can a movie be hilarious and bleak simultaneously?
Movie Log πΏ: Half Nelson, 2006 - β β β Β½

A tale about loneliness. Gosling as ever was brilliant in this. Can see why he got the Oscar nod
Movie Log πΏ: Reality+, 2014 - β β β

This short film walked so The Substance could run
Movie Log πΏ: Conclave, 2024 - β β β β Β½

This is a really gripping film. With the premise being what it is, I was expecting a bit of a snooze-fest but was pleasantly surprised. Plenty of intrigue and drama coupled with marvellous acting all round.
Movie Log πΏ: Step Brothers, 2008 - β β β Β½

So many hilarious moments. The close cut to a body double for Adam Scott revealing the abs will never not be funny
Movie Log πΏ: Adaptation., 2002 - β β β β Β½

Movie Log πΏ: The Florida Project, 2017 - β β β β β

This film is so complete! The whole spectrum of emotion. Wonderful acting especially from the kids.
Movie Log πΏ: Hard Truths, 2024 - β β β β

What monumental acting in this film, complete masterclass. Not sure Iβve ever seen so much storytelling achieved in complete silence either. My first Mike Leigh film and I doubt my last.
Movie Log πΏ: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, 2017 - β β β β β

I watched this without knowing it was a Martin McDonagh movie. It made perfect sense to me why I loved it so much after finding that out.
Movie Log πΏ: The Brutalist, 2024 - β β β Β½

Super long but less dry than I thought it would be. Brody is ridiculouslyΒ good. Ultimately if youβre going Β 3+ hours I want more payoff than we really got
Movie Log πΏ: Flight Risk, 2025 - β Β½

I counted more than five people leave the cinema during this. Talk about flight risk
Movie Log πΏ: Companion, 2025 - β β β

Movie Log πΏ: Nickel Boys, 2024 - β β β β

Movie Log πΏ: A Real Pain, 2024 - β β β β

Getting Culkin in was an inspired choice. Great film, nice emotional plot with comic relief throughout.
Movie Log πΏ: Nosferatu, 2024 - β β β

My second favourite Nick Hault vampire film
Movie Log πΏ: We Live in Time, 2024 - β β β Β½

Nice little tearjerker to start 2025. Doesnβt take anything to the traumatic places it couldβve which is definitely for the better. Some excellent comic relief and I think the non-linear story shines.
Movie Log πΏ: Perfect Days, 2023 - β β β β β

How I feel if I use the calm app in the morning. In all seriousness though this is a beautiful film that reminds you to find the beauty in the everyday. This film is one of those that makes you see the world differently when it ends. For me, thatβs β¦

Movie Log πΏ: Grand Theft Hamlet, 2024 - β β β Β½

Movie Log πΏ: Misery, 1990 - β β β β Β½

Slow motion shots of waves breaking all over the show. Great action movie, everything you want is here.
Movie Log πΏ: Small Things Like These, 2024 - β β β β

Felt so desperately sorry for Bill throughout the whole film. Beautifully shot and really well executed. Terrifying nuns throughout
Movie Log πΏ: Heretic, 2024 - β β β

Hughβs great in this. The plot was perhaps a little contrived but I enjoyed the movie regardless
Movie Log πΏ: The Outrun, 2024 - β β β

Very well acted and well shot movie. I understand the timeline flitting wouldβve been a creative decision but was a bit much for me. Β Overall I enjoyed it, worth a watch. Difficult to watch with a pint
Movie Log πΏ: The Substance, 2024 - β β β β β

Never has a film overwhelmed me quite like this. Was sat in the car for ages after leaving the cinema just trying to come back down to earth. This feels like an instant classic

This is cinema everyone! The stop motion robot clumsily chasing Sarah is as good as it gets
Movie Log πΏ: Twisters, 2024 - β β β β

Full of drama, super intense and a lot of fun. I spent literally every tornado scene searching for a cow. Cinema was packed. Is this the film of the summer?
Movie Log πΏ: Longlegs, 2024 - β β β

No better than three. A shame because I was very excited for this one. Felt like it shouldβve been an 18 with more gore. Definitely had the looks on its side, this was a delightfully shot movie
Movie Log πΏ: Triangle of Sadness, 2022 - β β β β

Three very distinct acts make this really fun. Loved the whole movie. Was expecting cannibalism, Iβve gotta say
Movie Log πΏ: Kinds of Kindness, 2024 - β β β Β½

Movie Log πΏ: Source Code, 2011 - β β β

Itβs a bit all over the place but I enjoyed it. Groundhog Day in the multiverse
Movie Log πΏ: Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga, 2024 - β β β β

Movie Log πΏ: I, Robot, 2004 - β β β β

Love how completely unnecessary Shia LaBeoufβs character is in this movie
Movie Log πΏ: The Fall Guy, 2024 - β β β

Movie Log πΏ: The Day After Tomorrow, 2004 - β β β

Movie Log πΏ: Dune: Part Two, 2024 - β β β β

Well all that build up in the first film wasnβt for nothing. Watched in IMAX and was blown away by the soundscaping in this film

I can totally see this as related to The Worst Person In The World. It felt similarly made. An enjoyable watch
πΏ Movie Log: All of Us Strangers, 2023 - β β β β Β½

Is this one of the truly saddest films of all time? Quite possibly. A swirling tale of loneliness. Brilliantly made.

People sure did smoke in the 70s. Harrowing film though, wonderfully told and an incredible feat of survival.
πΏ Movie Log: Leave the World Behind, 2023 - β β Β½

The book was a really great read but this movie has made a couple of pretty weird changes that killed it for me. We had a lot of fun with spinning cameras too
πΏ Movie Log: Priscilla, 2023 - β β β Β½

I cringed a lot watching this film. The sheer creepiness of it was hard to take. I felt incredibly sorry for Priscilla. Groomed and prepared for a life before she really even knew who she was.
πΏ Movie Log: Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby, 2006 - β β β β β

First movie of the year. Ultimate βbroβ comedy. I donβt know what to do with my hands
πΏ Movie Log: Saltburn, 2023 - β β β β

This movie drips 2006. The styles, the music, the aspect ratio. Immaculate
πΏ Movie Log: Alien, 1979 - β β β β β

This film is incredible! It looks unbelievable in its remastered version. I am a huge fan of user interfaces in the future being so difficult you have to throw 30 unlabelled switches to achieve anything
πΏ Movie Log: Horrible Bosses, 2011 - β β β Β½

Really quite the cast on this film. Colin Farrellβs character had me cracking up. Big Alβs Toy Barn energy
πΏ Movie Log: Moana, 2016 - β β β

Proper post-Christmas fodder. All I hear when Iβm alone is the rock singing now
πΏ Movie Log: Wonka, 2023 - β β β β β

Miles better than I expected going in. Someone in casting was trying to win a bet by getting that much of the Peep Show cast in there
πΏ Movie Log: Elemental, 2023 - β β

This film was a dud. It was bound to happen to Pixar eventually. Extra star for that water animation
πΏ Movie Log: Dream Scenario, 2023 - β β β Β½

Unexpectedly funny, dark and weird. Nick Cage runs away with this role. Definitely recommend watching

Original sci-fi is great, Iβm here for that. This is, however, just 9/11 with robots
BlackBerry, 2023 - β β β Β½

Jay Baruchel and Glenn Howerton are great in this. Iβll be pitching movie night to my work next week. Seems that good shit happens while thatβs still around
Dead Poets Society, 1989 - β β β β

Weβre all just food for worms
Past Lives, 2023 - β β β β β

This film is just beautiful. One of those movies that makes you see everything differently when you leave the cinema.
Oppenheimer, 2023 - β β β β

Hard to describe this film. It is visually incredible and the cast is insane. Not sure where it leaves me on Oppenheimer as a person.

Little Miss Sunshine, 2006 - β β β β

I really thought the acting in this was phenomenal. Reminded me of the Always Sunny pageant episode, which Iβm guessing took a tiny bit of inspiration from this perhaps
Missing, 2023 - β β β Β½

This film had me gesturing violently at the screen a few times. Gripping and the unique way of telling the story was fun too.
Layer Cake, 2004 - β β β

Dumbledore said a swear word
Renfield, 2023 - β β β β

A self-aware movie thatβs hilarious from the start to end. The CGI blood budget mustβve been huge
TΓR, 2022 - β β β

Artistically this film is spot on. It looks great, sounds great, and the acting from Cate Blanchett is crazy good. Still, felt a bit long for me. Cheers for front-loading the credits though because I was a couple of minutes late arriving
Another Round, 2020 - β β β β

The Menu, 2022 - β β β β

Plane, 2023 - β β β

You donβt need to watch this film to know whatβs going to happen. Thatβs not necessarily a bad thing, though. Plane was an enjoyable film to watch on the big screen, for sure
Knock at the Cabin, 2023 - β β β Β½

Shyamalan has the most hilarious cameo in this film. Itβs a good thriller but I think the βtwistβ (wasnβt much of one) was a bit loose for my liking.
The Fabelmans, 2022 - β β β Β½

All round a not-so-bad film. Chuckled at the quick horizon shift at the end. A nice telling of the story of the man so often behind the camera
A Man Called Otto, 2022 - β β β β

First film of 2023!
This film is a preciseΒ mashup of Gran Torino and Up. Even had the trip to the falls. Turns out thatβs no bad thing, I cried my eyes out and Iβll be buying the book. Thoroughly recommend giving it a watch.

The Silence of the Lambs, 1991 - β β β β Β½

What a performance from Anthony Hopkins, genuinely terrifying. Probably a bit criminal that it took me this long to see this film
Taxi Driver, 1976 - β β β β

What a rollercoaster. Some great soundtracking and the shots are superb. A wild, wandering journey around the mind of an unwell guy
The Banshees of Inisherin, 2022 - β β β β Β½

So good. Bleak and funny. Great acting. The βtakes two to tangoβ back and forth had me laughing my head off
Amsterdam, 2022 - β β Β½

Not great, not bad. Cast is insaneΒ but the story is maybe a bit too convoluted for me. I do like when movies do a side-by-side with the real events in the credits though

Itβs a whodunnit. You see one, youβve seen βem all. This oneβs particularly good though
Jaws, 1975 - β β β β β

Saw this in IMAX for a special. Itβs just iconic. Animatronics are better than CGI. That classic soundtrack. About ten shots of those oxygen tanks so we donβt forget theyβre on the boat.. I love every moment of this film.
Flightplan, 2005 - β β β

I donβt think Sean Bean says βbastardβ in this film, which wouldβve definitely bought it another star. All round an enjoyable film, even if you could see what was coming next for near enough the whole thing.
Heat, 1995 - β β β β Β½

Spent the whole film thinking it looked familiar. Then βGREAT ASSβ and it came flooding back. What a film!
Flee, 2021

The Talented Mr. Ripley, 1999 - β β β β Β½

This movie had great pace. Perhaps just highlighted because Iβd watched Moulin Rouge the night before.Β
Hell of a cast, all at their best. Loved the escalation throughout.

Bullet Train, 2022 - β β β

You could argue that this was Snakes on a Train
Brian and Charles, 2022 - β β β β

The Batman, 2022 - β β β Β½

A beautiful film. Batman doesnβt really develop at all throughout the film though. Itβs also a little long. The Riddler appears to have been styled on Rose West, which is weird.
The Duke, 2020 - β β β β Β½

The Godfather: Part II, 1974 - β β β β

Dune, 2021 - β β β β

A lot of setting up shop for movie two. And space bagpipes
Us, 2019 - β β β β

I went to watch this film on my own in the cinema when it was released. If it weren't for the comic relief of the Alexa halfway through I probably would've been genuinely scared. A great movie, exactly what a modern horror film should be.
Requiem for a Dream, 2000 - β β β

This film is bleak. It's so unbelievably bleak.
Once Upon a Timeβ¦ in Hollywood, 2019 - β β β β Β½

This film is just great. I have nothing more to say
The Big Lebowski, 1998 - β β β β Β½

Am I wrong?
Back to the Future, 1985 - β β β β β

Unequivocally the best movie of all time. This is everything that a movie needs to be and should aim to be. From the soundtrack to the special effects, the set building (Hill Valley square is a masterpiece), the DeLorean and all the way through to β¦
Se7en, 1995 - β β β β

Great film, annoying to have forced β7β into the name and make this film so much of a pain to find
Nightmare Alley, 2021 - β β β

I think maybe what was going to happen was a bit too signposted for me? Nonetheless, a good film with a unique story.
Jackass Forever, 2022 - β β β β

Itβs juvenile comedy, it really is. Thereβs something just so funny about seeing someone take a hockey puck to the balls at top speed though.
