I’m obsessed with this Cate Le Bon album. It’s got a real swirling, dark energy to it. Excellent listening.
Movie Log 🍿: Take Out, 2004 - ★★★★
A really bleak tale. A lot of story told through silence. Can see how this led into future Sean Baker movies
Movie Log 🍿: Last Breath, 2025 - ★★★½
My heart rate went over 100bpm watching this. You’ll know the ending that’s coming the whole time but it takes you on a rollercoaster to get there.
Last weekend it was freakishly nearly 20° and here’s proof I did something fun with it! The false spring we seem to get every single year.
Movie Log 🍿: Mickey 17, 2025 - ★★★★
So much funnier than I was anticipating. RPat screaming at himself was hilarious. Ruffalo and Collette were great every time they were on screen. Shoutout to the set design too, really well done.
Movie Log 🍿: The Last Showgirl, 2024 - ★★★★
PamAn and Dave Bautista are immense in this. A tale of people forced to change by the relentlessness of Las Vegas. Has similar themes to The Substance. A great watch
Movie Log 🍿: The Monkey, 2025 - ★★★
Steers awfully close to Scary Movie levels of absurdity at points. Good fun to watch something so unserious!
Movie Log 🍿: Anora, 2024 - ★★★★★
How can a movie be hilarious and bleak simultaneously?
Going to get started on a new dev project this week. Always fun to start something from scratch. Less fun in a month when I can’t get it to build, I’m sure.
Movie Log 🍿: Half Nelson, 2006 - ★★★½
A tale about loneliness. Gosling as ever was brilliant in this. Can see why he got the Oscar nod
Movie Log 🍿: Reality+, 2014 - ★★★
This short film walked so The Substance could run
Movie Log 🍿: Conclave, 2024 - ★★★★½
This is a really gripping film. With the premise being what it is, I was expecting a bit of a snooze-fest but was pleasantly surprised. Plenty of intrigue and drama coupled with marvellous acting all round.
I’m on a roll! We’ve got the Apple Music Shortcode up and running this morning too. Embed music to your heart’s content.
Went on a lovely walk on my birthday earlier in the month. Just flicking through photos and thought I’d drop this one on the blog.
I’ve made a shortcode for the Spotify embedded player in Micro.blog! Here’s a song that I’ve not been able to stop listening to. I’ll do an Apple Music one next. Give me a shout if you find any issues with the shortcode or …
Movie Log 🍿: Step Brothers, 2008 - ★★★½
So many hilarious moments. The close cut to a body double for Adam Scott revealing the abs will never not be funny
Now the theme is done, it’s time to get cracking on my Apple Music/Spotify plugins for micro.blog. The plan is to tie it into some iOS shortcuts for quick and easy posting.
It took me a lot longer than I would’ve liked.. but I’ve got my first theme for micro.blog into the directory! Take a look at Microwave here and give it a spin!
Movie Log 🍿: Adaptation., 2002 - ★★★★½
Cage² in a meta marvel. What a crazy piece of filmmaking.
Feels a long time ago since I was here already! Descending into the soup on skis is quite the experience
Movie Log 🍿: The Florida Project, 2017 - ★★★★★
This film is so complete! The whole spectrum of emotion. Wonderful acting especially from the kids.
Movie Log 🍿: Hard Truths, 2024 - ★★★★
What monumental acting in this film, complete masterclass. Not sure I’ve ever seen so much storytelling achieved in complete silence either. My first Mike Leigh film and I doubt my last.
Movie Log 🍿: Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, 2017 - ★★★★★
I watched this without knowing it was a Martin McDonagh movie. It made perfect sense to me why I loved it so much after finding that out.
Movie Log 🍿: The Brutalist, 2024 - ★★★½
Super long but less dry than I thought it would be. Brody is ridiculously good. Ultimately if you’re going 3+ hours I want more payoff than we really got
Also here’s a lovely cat I rudely woke up to take a photograph of 🐈
